Methodology

Methodology changelog

Every version of the methodology, what changed in it, and what a superseded version said. A figure cited under one version can be checked against the rules that produced it.

Version 1.1 ·

A correction to the stated crawl cadence, and three additions the record needed before anything was published from it.

  • Corrected what we say about how often we read a board. The intent and the achieved cadence are now stated as two separate facts.
  • Added what a close date is: the first observation of absence, not the moment of removal.
  • Added that every date on the site is UTC, stored and displayed.
  • Added the source provenance section, naming the hosts the crawler never fetches and how member-contributed rows enter the record.
  • Added the live coverage figures, read from the same endpoint as every other page that prints them.

What this version retracted

Previously: “We poll applicant tracking systems once a day and record what postings exist.”

That was the schedule we run, stated as though it were the record we hold. Over the 19 days from 2026-08-19, no employer had been observed on all 19 days and fifteen had been observed on exactly one.

Previously: “applicant tracking systems, read every morning”

Not true of any employer in the record on the day it was published, and the claim most likely to be relied on by somebody reading a close date.

Version 1.0 ·

First publication.

  • What we observe, the platforms we watch, what members contribute, how boards are added, every threshold in the product, what we refuse to say, and how dates are handled.

Corrections to the record itself, rather than to this page, are at corrections.
